Softball Celebrates Senior Day Against FDU-Florham

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley softball team celebrated seniors Yasmine Gonzalez and Sierra Ripka during their MAC Freedom finale against FDU-Florham on Sunday afternoon.

Game 1 | FDU-Florham 10 – Delaware Valley 1 (5 innings)

The Devils struck early, scoring two unearned runs in the first inning—one on an error and another on a single to left center by Rodriguez. They doubled their lead in the second with a pair of RBI singles.

In the bottom of the second, Madison Donnelly singled through the left side, followed by a single to left center from Tori Bockrath. However, the Aggies couldn't capitalize, as Madison Karns and Gonzalez both went down swinging to end the threat.

Trailing 5-0 in the fourth, the Aggies finally got on the board. Angelina Bresnen led off with a double to left, advanced to third, and later scored on a wild pitch.

FDU-Florham responded in the fifth, scoring five more runs on four hits and an error to put the game out of reach. Jillian Collins drew a walk for DelVal in the bottom of the inning, but the Aggies were unable to rally, dropping game one in five innings.

Game 2 | FDU-Florham 6 – Delaware Valley 4

Delaware Valley struck first in game two. With one out, Kenzie Boyd singled to right, then scored when Bresnen doubled off the right-field fence. Amelia Funston followed with an RBI single up the middle to plate Bresnen. After Donnelly reached on an error and Funston advanced to third, Bockrath delivered a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Funston and giving the Aggies a 3-0 lead.

The Devils answered in the second, aided by a pair of errors, a hit-by-pitch, and a fielder's choice. They pushed across four runs in the inning despite recording just one hit against Alyssa Scansaroli, taking a 4-3 lead.

FDU added two more runs in the third inning. After another hit-by-pitch, Scansaroli was relieved by Karns, but the Devils managed to tack on two more—one run charged to each pitcher.

In the fifth, Bresnen walked and stole second, later scoring on an error after Donnelly reached on a misplay by the shortstop. However, the Aggies could not mount another rally and fell in the finale, 6-4.

With the pair of losses, Delaware Valley falls to 19-16 overall and 2-12 in MAC Freedom play. They will conclude the 2025 season on Monday, April 28, hosting Widener at 3 and 5 p.m.
