DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's lacrosse team put up a good fight, using a 4-1 run to even the score in the third quarter, but struggled to hold on ultimately dropping the contest to King's 16-13 to end the season.
Prior to the game, DelVal honored its three seniors,
Viola Anderson,
Samantha Charles and
Leilani Eckert.
The teams battled back and forth with the Aggies firing off five shots and the Monarchs four through the first nine minutes.
Kyra McKeegan broke the scoring scooping up the loose ball at midfield and going down to earn the free position attempt. McKeegan fired from the top of the arc for the goal to put the Aggies ahead 1-0. A minute and 30 seconds later McKeegan netted her second of the game to keep DelVal ahead by one. King's ended the frame on a three-goal run to take a 4-2 to end the first quarter.
The Aggies came back with vengeance to start the second quarter.
Ashley Birmingham forced the immediate turnover off the draw carrying the ball downfield for the goal to cut the deficit to one, 4-3. Eight minutes later, Birmingham ended another Monarch's run going down off the draw control for her second goal of the game keeping the Aggies within two, 6-4. King's added two to their lead, but Birmingham answered the call yet again scooping up the turnover caused by
Alyssa Rudd and headed downfield for the clear and the hat trick. Trailing by three, McKeegan earned the hat trick on an extra person free position shot to bring the Aggies back within two, 8-6.
Down by three, the Aggies kicked off the second half with a 3-1 run over the first six minutes with goals from Birmingham,
Gabriella Guerra and
Charley Lengel-Kramer to make it a single-goal game, 10-9. Guerra won the draw immediately following the Aggies' ninth goal, finding the stick of Birmingham for the equalizer, 10-10.
Samantha Charles and Birmingham added to the scoring for the Aggies before the end of the frame, but a four-goal push from the Monarchs kept them in the lead 14-12.
Anna Kimbel netted her first goal of the game to make it a single-goal game with 11:34 to play, 14-13. King's netted two more goals through the remainder of the frame for the 16-13 win.
DelVal concludes its 2025 season with an overall record of 6-11 and a conference record of 0-7.
