DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley split a home doubleheader with Immaculata University on Tuesday afternoon, highlighted by strong performances in the circle from pitchers
Madison Karns and
Kenzie Boyd.
Game 1 | Delaware Valley 4 – Immaculata 1
Sierra Ripka opened the bottom of the first with a double to center field, and
Amelia Funston followed with a single up the middle to drive her in, giving the Aggies an early 1-0 lead.
In the second, the Mighty Macs loaded the bases, but Karns struck out Ornorato and induced a groundout to third to escape the jam.
With two outs in the third,
Kenzie Boyd drew a walk and came around to score on an
Angelina Bresnen double off the left field fence. Delaware Valley added two more runs in the fourth when
Yasmine Gonzalez moved
Madison Donnelly and Karns into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt.
Jillian Collins brought both home with a single up the middle, pushing the lead to 4-0.
Immaculata got one back when Anthony singled, stole second, and scored after Oldham reached on a fielding error by
Jillian Ulozas.
Karns was dominant in her complete game effort, allowing just three hits while striking out six to secure her 12th win of the season.
Game 2 | Immaculata 5 – Delaware Valley 1
The Mighty Macs struck early, scoring two runs in the first after a pair of singles and an Aggie error at third base allowed the ball to skip into the outfield.
In the third, Oldham capitalized on another DelVal error to extend the lead. Later in the inning, with a runner on third, Pinto singled up the middle to bring home Karcher and make it 4-0.
DelVal didn't record a hit until the fourth, when Bresnen beat out an infield single. After swiping second, she was left stranded.
Ripka sparked a rally in the sixth with an infield single and moved to second on a wild pitch. Boyd then drove her in with a double off the left field fence, cutting the deficit to 4-1.
Immaculata added an insurance run in the seventh when Davis sent a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Tarwinga, who had entered as a pinch runner. That was the only earned run Boyd allowed in her complete game effort, as she went all seven innings in the circle.
With the split, the Aggies move to 17-14 on the season and will conclude their 2025 road schedule on Thursday, April 24, at Albright College.
