ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's basketball team was held to just an 18-point second half ultimately dropping the contest to Lebanon Valley 63-39.
The Aggies fall to 3-18 on the season overall and 1-9 in MAC Freedom play. The Flying Dutchmen improve to 14-6 overall and 7-2 in conference action.
DelVal fell behind five points before
Alexis Wright put up the layup to put the Aggies on the board. LVC created an 11-point lead, but Wright and
Haley Keenan paired up for an 8-6 run to end the first quarter and brought the deficit back down to single digits, 19-10.
A fastbreak from Keenan 1:30 into the second quarter helped keep the gap to just 10-points, 22-12, but the Flying Dutchmen quickly mounted an 8-2 spurt to take a 16-point lead, 30-14.
Ava Irizarry stepped up from beyond the arc to knock the lead down by three, 30-17. Another three-pointer from Wright at the minute mark took the deficit back down to 12 for the first time in over five minutes, 33-21. LVC netted the last bucket of the half to take a 14-point lead into the break, 35-21.
DelVal went on to put up just 18 points in the final 20 minutes of the game shooting 6-of-23 from the field and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. The Flying Dutchmen shot 50% in the second half both from the field and the line racking up 28 total points to claim the 24-point margin of victory, 63-39.
Wright led the Aggies recording 20 points and 13 rebounds. Keenan also ended the game with double-digit scoring tallying 12 points in the contest. The graduate student also led DelVal in the steals category with six.
The Aggies return to action this Wednesday, Feb. 12 when they hit the road to visit the King's Monarchs for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
