Women’s Basketball Falls to King’s

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's basketball team gave up 30 points to the King's Monarchs in the second quarter and struggled to regroup, dropping the contest 93-49 on Wednesday night.
 
The Aggies fall to 3-19 overall on the season and 1-10 in MAC Freedom action. King's improved to 8-14 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
 
Haley Keenan started things strong in the first minute with a three-pointer followed up with a jumper from Alexis Wright to give the Aggies a 5-0 lead. King's responded with just two points before a three-minute scoring drought began ended with another jumper from Wright to keep the Aggies ahead by five, 7-2. A three-pointer from the Monarchs kicked off a 17-6 run to end the frame with a six-point lead, 19-13.
 
The Monarchs put up four points through the first four minutes to take a double-digit lead over DelVal, 23-13. Keenan capitalized on a steal from Aubrey Ennis and sunk the layup, drew the foul and went 1-of-1 from the line to bring the deficit down to single-digits, 23-16. King's broke open the scoring in the final six minutes of the half holding the Aggies to just three points while netting 26 for the 20-point lead, 49-19.
 
King's outscored the Aggies 44-30 in the second half to finish the contest with a 44-point margin of victory, 93-49. Wright led the Aggies' scoring effort with 20 points. She ended the night with a team-high 27 points, her highest-scoring game of the season.
 
DelVal returns to action this Saturday, Feb. 15 on the road at Arcadia for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
