DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's basketball team led Stevens by as many as 10 in the first half, but the Ducks outscored the Aggies 30-17 in the second half to claim the 54-43 win.
The Aggies fall to 3-21 on the season with a 1-12 mark in MAC Freedom play while Stevens improves to 16-8 overall and 10-3 in conference action.
Stevens managed to pull ahead of DelVal by as many as four to start the game, but
Jayla Rivera and
Aubrey Ennis quickly worked to even the score. The Ducks maintained a single basket lead until
Haley Keenan stepped up from beyond the arc to give the Aggies their first lead of the game, 7-6. DelVal gave up a three before mounting a 10-2 run through the end of the quarter, taking a six-point lead, 17-11.
Ennis extended the Aggies lead to start the second frame converting the three-pointer to put DelVal ahead by nine, 20-11. The Aggies held a slight 4-3 edge over the ensuing 2:14 to bring their lead to double-digits, 24-14. The Ducks finished the frame on a strong 10-2 run to cut the Aggies' lead to just two at the half, 26-24.
A steal by Ennis 20 seconds in led to a layup to cushion the Aggies' lead, 28-24. The Ducks came within one point twice before shifting the lead with a layup in the fourth minute, 31-30. Stevens held the 11-4 edge through the rest of the quarter to take an eight-point lead into the final quarter, 42-34.
Perfect shooting from the line for the Ducks pushed the lead to 10, but Keenan got her shot from the charity stripe also shooting 100% to keep the Aggies' deficit to eight, 44-36, with 5:30 on the clock. Trailing by 10, Keenan stepped up from the long-range sinking the three to bring the gap back into single digits, 46-39. Stevens held the 8-4 advantage through the remainder of the game for the 54-43 win.
Alexis Wright and Keenan led the charge for the Aggies both ending the night in double-digit scoring. Keenan tallied a team-high 13 points followed by Wright with 12 points. Wright also led the Aggies in rebounding pulling down 11 boards. Ennis recorded her first double-digit rebounding game this season with a total of 10 rebounds in the game.
The Aggies return to action in James Work Gymnasium for their final home game of the season this Saturday, February 22 when they host DeSales at 1 p.m.
