DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Despite being competitive through the first two sets, the Delaware Valley women's volleyball team struggled to put together the rallies needed to secure the win, falling to DeSales 3-0 on Wednesday night.
A quick 4-0 run pushed DeSales to an early lead. A kill from
Samantha Wilton changed the momentum for the Aggies and began a 5-2 spurt to keep DelVal within a single-point reach, 6-5. The Bulldogs expanded their lead to seven, 15-8, when a
Kai Logan kill sparked a 9-3 run to bring the deficit back to a single point, 18-17. DeSales finished the set off with eight unanswered points for the win, 25-17.
DelVal held a 6-4 edge over DeSales through the opening rallies thanks to kills from Wilton and
Monique Smith paired with a
Patricia Schwab service ace. The Bulldogs responded with an 8-2 run to shift the lead, 12-8. The Aggies remained in chase eventually closing the gap to two, 18-16, thanks to a pair of kills from Smith and another service ace from Schwab. DeSales used a 7-3 run to end the set in victory, 25-19.
The Bulldogs stuffed the Aggies' offense in the final set taking an early 11-1 lead. DelVal hit at a -0.143 clip in the set tallying two kills on 28 attack attempts dropping the set 25-9.
Smith led the Aggies offense with seven kills while also contributing four blocks.
Nia Walker led the defensive efforts with 14 kills.
Madison Alexander recorded a team-high 14 assists.
DelVal is back in action on the road this Tuesday, Oct. 14 for more MAC Freedom action at Arcadia at 7 p.m.
