PREVIEW: Football Travels to Eastern Following Bye Week

| By:

The Game

The Delaware Valley University football team (2-2, 2-1 MAC) looks to bounce back and return to the win column as it travels to Radnor, Pa., to face Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Eastern University (3-1, 2-1 MAC) following a bye week. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Valley Forge Football Facility.

This marks just the third season of varsity football for Eastern, and the Aggies have taken both previous matchups — a 29-6 win in 2023 and a 27-0 shutout last year in Doylestown. In that 2024 meeting, Jack Fallon and Louie Barrios IV each rushed for a touchdown in the second quarter, while the Aggie defense forced three turnovers.

Last Time Out

  • Sept. 27: Delaware Valley vs. Lebanon Valley – L, 21-18

  • Sept. 27: Eastern at King's – W, 39-37

Storylines and Notes

  • Kicker Brendan Hazell opened the scoring against Lebanon Valley with a 15-yard field goal to give DelVal an early 3-0 lead. Despite three first-half interceptions by QB Mike Galasso, the Aggies trailed just 7-3 at halftime. A late LVC fumble recovery and sustained drives in the fourth quarter kept DelVal's offense off the field as the Aggies fell 21-18 heading into the bye week.

  • Defensive lineman Aziyah Garland made all three of his tackles for loss, while linebacker Tanner Webb had a breakout performance, leading the team with five solo tackles and nine total stops.

  • Eastern QB Brett Nabb was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling 421 yards and four touchdowns in the Eagles' 39-37 win at King's. He threw for 257 yards and two long touchdowns (75 and 38 yards) and added 164 yards and two scores on the ground as Eastern set a program record with 600 total yards.

  • Wide receiver Gavin Migliori continues his strong senior season, ranking second in the MAC with 348 receiving yards on 16 catches. He had three receptions for 61 yards and a 28-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter against LVC.

  • Running back Justin Brown continues to emerge as the Aggies' lead back, pacing the team in carries the past two weeks. He was narrowly outgained by Alex Rufe, who broke off a 61-yard touchdown run on his only rush versus LVC.

  • Linebacker Jeremiah Clark remains the MAC leader in tackles with 50 — 11 more than the next player — and will anchor a defense tasked with stopping one of the nation's top rushing offenses. Eastern ranks fourth nationally in rushing, led by Jeremiah Avrilien (135.8 yards per game) and QB Nabb (121.3 yards per game). The duo has combined for 10 rushing touchdowns this season.
