Men's Basketball Falls in Second Half to Shoremen 64-55

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team fell to Washington College (Md.) 64-55, outpaced by the Shoremen in the second half.

Zoelin Pair and Kamal Johnson hit layups, followed by Jake McGinty sinking a three-pointer, giving the Aggies an early 7-2 lead. However, four minutes later, the game was tied at eight, and the Shoremen took their first lead after a turnover by DelVal.

Near the halfway mark of the first half, Mike Herrin grabbed a rebound off a free throw attempt and took it the length of the court to score. Johnson then sparked an 8-0 run for the Aggies, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers from Antonio Redding. A technical foul on Washington's Davis Bland sent Redding to the line, where he sank both free throws. Reggie Washington then added a jumper for his first points of the afternoon. Moments later, Redding drained another three-pointer, giving the Aggies their largest lead of the game at 16. Washington closed the final three minutes of the first half on a 12-1 run, cutting DelVal's lead to just five by halftime.

Johnson and Redding teamed up to extend the Aggies' lead to 10 in the first three minutes of the second half. However, DelVal managed only two points over the next five minutes, allowing the Shoremen to tie the game. Washington then hit a pair of layups and a three-pointer, keeping the game close. Down by five, Herrin answered with a long-range three, but Washington responded at the free-throw line, hitting 6 of 7 attempts to seal the victory.

With the loss, the Aggies fall to 5-6 overall. They return to the court on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Misericordia to open MAC Freedom action.
