Men’s Basketball Falls to RV Stevens

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley Men's Basketball team drops to Stevens Institute of Technology 84-62 making the Ducks 7-0 in conference play.
 
The Aggies quickly fell to a 10-4 deficit in the first five minutes after two early threes from the Ducks. A three-point from Jake McGinty stopped the Ducks along with Zoelin Pair who scored with a lay-up, putting the Aggies within one. The Ducks then went on for a 10-0 run until Miles Demby made a 2-point jumper, stopping the Ducks momentum. A few minutes later, Kamal Johnson scored with an unassisted layup and a three, along with Antonio Redding making the score 21-26. The Ducks went on another scoring run putting up 14. Pair broke the scoring drought with a layup from McGinty, leaving the Aggies behind 27-44 at the end of the first half.
 
The Aggies offense started the second half off strong with layups from Mike Herrin and Pair, and a three from Redding. The Ducks answered back with two layups increasing their lead to 34-50. Within a few seconds, Pair grabbed a defensive rebound, and with a quick break away, dunked. After two and a half minutes without a basket from the Aggies, Johnson made a solo layup putting the Aggies behind by 19. After a 7-2 scoring run from the Ducks, Pair dunked again, along with a layup from Herrin making the score 47-68. With six and a half minutes left on the clock, Jordan Gombs put up two, along with a made free throw. The Ducks responded right back with a dunk of their own. Johnson scored five points, alongside a three from Herrin, putting the Aggies within 17. With 14 seconds left on the clock, the Ducks sunk two free throws, the Aggies losing 62-83.
 
Johnson led the Aggies with 20 points, while Pair led the defensive effort with 11 rebounds and one block.
 
The Aggies are back in action at home Saturday, February 1st at 3 p.m. where they host the Cougars of Misericordia.
