Ennis Scores Career High 20 Points in Loss to DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Aubrey Ennis led the Delaware Valley women's basketball team with a career-high 20 points, while Haley Keenan recorded her sixth double-double of the season in a 70-53 loss to DeSales University.

After the Bulldogs scored the first five points, Ciana Feliciano found Ennis with a pass, and Ennis hit a three-pointer to get the Aggies on the board. However, missed shots for DelVal led to a 9-0 run by DeSales, until Keenan ended the streak with a layup. With two minutes remaining in the first quarter, Keenan stole the ball and fed Ennis, who finished with a floater. Ennis then added a quick seventh point, but the Aggies still trailed the Bulldogs 16-9 by the end of the period.

Feliciano broke DeSales' momentum to start the second quarter and, just 30 seconds later, drained a three-pointer. Both teams struggled with turnovers, but a steal by Ennis led to a layup by Feliciano. Alexis Wright scored her first points for DelVal with a mid-range jumper, then followed up with two free throws a minute later. Down by 16, Ava Irizarry hit a long two-point shot, assisted by Payton Witman, both of whom had just checked into the game.

DeSales opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run, but Witman stopped the streak with a jump shot. The game went scoreless for nearly three minutes before Ennis stole the ball and set up Jayla Rivera for a quick score. With a minute left, after another jumper by Witman, Keenan was fouled while driving to the basket; she converted the three-point play at the free-throw line. Rivera and Ennis both sank consecutive three-pointers, cutting the deficit to 11. However, DeSales' Candence Hiller answered with a three-pointer at the buzzer, giving the Bulldogs a 52-38 lead heading into the final frame.

Keenan grabbed her 10th rebound of the game and quickly scored on a layup following a pass from Ennis. Two minutes later, Rivera made a cross-court pass to Ennis, who hit her third three-pointer of the game, bringing the Aggies within single digits. With three minutes remaining, Ennis and Mikalili Donmoyer traded threes, but DeSales went on a 7-0 run to pull ahead. Keenan added another three-point play to finish with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

With the loss, the Aggies fall to 3-14 overall and 1-4 in MAC Freedom play. DelVal will continue conference action on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Stevens Institute of Technology, with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m.
