Aggies Secure First Conference Win of the Season Over King’s

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's basketball team battled through the first half with King's unable to pull ahead by more than eight points before blowing open the scoring in the second half to defeat the Monarchs 58-45 on Wednesday night.

The win marks the first MAC Freedom win for DelVal this season improving its overall record to 3-13 and its conference record to 1-4. King's falls to 6-10 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

Ciana Feliciano put up the first points of the game, but the Aggies quickly fell behind by three to the Monarchs. DelVal responded with a 6-2 run with Alexis Wright sinking the jumper at the under five-minute mark to switch the lead in favor of the Aggies, 8-7. The Aggies continued to trail King's by as many as two until Feliciano converted the three at the 0:13 mark to cut the deficit to just one to end the first quarter, 14-13.

The lead changed hands three times over the first five minutes of the second quarter with the Aggies unable to pull ahead by more than one until Aubrey Ennis broke away down court for the layup to put DelVal ahead by three, 19-16. The bucket started a 7-0 spurt for the Aggies creating an eight-point edge, 24-18, with 3:32 until the half. King's held the 5-2 advantage through the rest of the frame to cut DelVal's lead to five to end the half, 26-21.

The Monarchs momentum continued sinking a three ball to take the 31-28 lead. DelVal responded big with both Wright and Haley Keenan converting their shots and drawing fouls to put up six consecutive points to regain the lead, 34-31. The Aggies broke open the scoring with a 9-2 run holding the Monarchs scoreless through the final three minutes to take a double-digit lead, 43-33.

King's cut the Aggies lead down to five twice before a Payton Witman jumper kicked off a small 4-0 spurt to give DelVal a nine-point lead, 49-40, with under five minutes to play. The Monarchs continued their success from beyond the arc, converting the long ball to bring the deficit back down to six, but Aubrey Ennis sunk her second basket of the quarter to push DelVal to an eight-point lead, 51-43, with 1:45 remaining. Feliciano led the 7-2 effort for the Aggies to end the game with the win, 58-45.
