Aggies Lead by Redding, Defeats Arcadia 62-56

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team secured a 62-56 victory over Arcadia University, thanks to a strong defensive effort, marking their third conference win of the season.

Jake McGinty scored the first points of the game, setting the tone early. JT Wright III followed with two three-pointers, and Antonio Redding added a jumper, giving the Aggies a 10-0 lead just over five minutes in. However, the Knights battled back and took the lead with 8:55 remaining in the first half, as DelVal found themselves in foul trouble. Jordan Gombs made a free throw, and Redding followed up with a jumper to help the Aggies regain the lead. Additional scoring from the seniors pushed the Aggies ahead 19-14 with just under three minutes to go in the half. The remainder of the half saw points come only from the free-throw line, and DelVal took a 22-16 advantage into halftime.

In the second half, Redding sparked a scoring run, hitting three straight three-pointers. After Mike Herrin added a layup, the Aggies extended their lead to 14 points. At the 13:23 mark, McGinty was fouled after stealing the ball from the Knights, further widening the margin. The Aggies' largest lead of the game came when Herrin scored another layup, pushing the score to 43-26. Arcadia mounted a comeback, but Redding, who went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line, kept the Aggies ahead. Redding finished with 15 points and six rebounds.

With five minutes to go, Redding threw an alley-oop pass to Pair, who slammed home a dunk to energize the team. As the Knights became increasingly aggressive with fouls, Gombs was sent to the free-throw line multiple times. Despite a 10-4 run by Arcadia to close the gap, the Aggies held strong, making 19 free throws in the second half to seal the victory.

With the win, the Aggies improved to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in the MAC Freedom. DelVal will be on the road for their next two games, visiting King's College on Wednesday and DeSales on January 25.
