The Game

The DVU football program raises the curtain on the 2024 season on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Hampden-Sydney College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. inside Lewis C. Everett Stadium in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia.

After finishing the 2023 season with a sixth consecutive MAC Championship, a perfect 9-0 conference record (9-2 overall), and an appearance in the NCAA first round, DelVal received 81 points and all nine first-place votes from the conference coaches.

The Tigers finished last season with a 6-4 overall record and a 4-3 mark (4th place) in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). They were picked to finish fourth in the conference preseason poll.

Notes/Storylines
  • Saturday's matchup will mark the first time in history that the Aggies and Tigers face off. The teams are scheduled to meet again next year in Doylestown to open the 2025 season.
  • Mike Isgro begins his first season as head coach, having previously served as the special teams coordinator. The DVU Athletics Hall of Famer graduated from DelVal in 2010 after quarterbacking for the Aggies for all four seasons, accumulating 7,336 passing yards and 61 passing touchdowns.
  • The Tigers debut first-year head coach Vince Luvara, the former defensive coordinator at Division III Washington and Jefferson (Pa.) since 2016.
  • Last season, the Aggies lost their season opener to SUNY Cortland, 42-13.
  • DelVal football returns home next weekend to host Alvernia, aiming to extend their streak of 53 consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference victories and six consecutive MAC titles.
  • The Aggies return their starting quarterback, Louie Barrios IV, who passed for 1,123 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Barrios also rushed for 553 yards (second on the team) and added four touchdowns.
  • Other key returners for DelVal include MAC Rookie of the Year Jack Fallon and 2024 preseason All-American Jacquez Mabin. Fallon led the ground game with 805 yards and 11 touchdowns after Jay White fell to injury after four games. Senior wideout Luan Avdijaj had a team-best 18 catches for just shy of 300 yards and three touchdowns. Mabin recorded 12.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss, leading the conference and the team in both categories.
  • The Tigers are led offensively by junior quarterback Carter Sido. The Texas native started only two games last season before sustaining an injury. Sido completed 30 of 49 passes for 304 yards.
