PREVIEW: Aggies Take on Golden Wolves for 2024 Home Opener

The Delaware Valley football team (1-0) opens its home schedule this Saturday, playing host to the Alvernia University Golden Wolves (0-1). Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. inside James Work Memorial Stadium in Doylestown.

Alvernia began their program in the 2018 season, and this will be the third all-time meeting between the teams. The Aggies have won all three previous matchups. Last season, Jack Fallon rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Aggies' 271-yard ground total in the 28-12 victory.

  • Mike Isgro claimed his first career victory in Week 1 at Hampden-Sydney.
  • DelVal football aims to extend its streak of 53 consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference victories and six consecutive MAC titles.
  • Delaware Valley received 30 votes in the most recent D3Football.com poll but did not break into the top 25.
  • The Aggies will look to stay out of penalty trouble this week. In Week 1, they were flagged 19 times for 180 yards.
  • Louie Barrios IV and Nahsir Morgan scored a 99-yard touchdown pass on the first offensive play of the game, setting a new program record.
  • After not playing last season, Morgan is off to a hot start, catching four passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns.
  • The defense scored a pair of touchdowns last week off fumble recoveries by Jacquez Mabin and Barry Turner.
  • Jacquez Mabin was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week and to the D3Football.com Team of the Week. The senior tallied a team-leading 13 total tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss (54 yards), and a pair of sacks for 47 yards.
  • Sophomore QB Colin Payne went 22-of-36 for 246 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Payne threw two picks and was sacked once in their season opener against Ursinus.
  • Alvernia rushed for only 29 yards in Week 1, with Payne leading with just 15 yards on six attempts.
  • Fleming, Anderson, and Piavis all had seven total tackles, with Piavis leading with five solo tackles.
