DOYLESTOWN, PA.- The Delaware Valley Softball team hosted the Flying Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley in a non-conference showdown on Saturday, April 20th at the DVU Softball Field. The Aggies come into today's match up with a record of 15-13 coming off a doubleheader series split against Centenary. Lebanon Valley comes into today's match up with a record of 22-6 and a first-place lead in the MAC Freedom standings. Delaware Valley would go on to drop both games of the doubleheader by a score of 3-1 and 10-2.
Pitching for Delaware Valley in game one is
Madison Karns.
Jillian Collins would hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd inning to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd.
After a great start from the Aggies pitching and defense, Lebanon Valley would capitalize on an error by the DelVal defense to tie it up 1-1 in the top of the 5th.
The Flying Dutchmen would score two runs in the top of the 7th to take a 3-1 lead.
The Aggies offense was not able to mount a comeback and the Flying Dutchmen would take game one.
Pitching for Delaware Valley in game two is
Kenzie Boyd.
Lebanon Valley would get the scoring started in the top of the 2nd inning with an RBI groundnut to take a 1-0 lead.Â
The Aggies would capitalize in the bottom half of the inning as
Sierra Ripka would hit an RBI single scoring
Yasmine Gonzalez and
Tori Bockrath to take a 2-1 lead.Â
The Flying Dutchmen would score four runs in the top of the fourth on five hits to take a 5-2 lead.Â
Lebanon Valley's offense would start to take over the game as they scored three runs on four hits to extend their lead to 8-2.Â
During the 6th inning,
Madison Karns replaced Boyd in relief to pitch for the Aggies.
Lebanon Valley would score two more runs and close things out in the 7th inning to win game two 3-1.
Delaware Valley would fall to 15-15 on the year and 6-8 in conference play.
The Aggies will be back in action on Tuesday, April 23rd when they host Senior Night against the Nittany Lions of Penn State Brandywine.
