Warminster, Pa. - Delaware Valley men's golf won their spring opener in a match play event against Penn State Abington on Wednesday.  

The teams played Five Ponds Golf Club which holds a par 71 and plays 6672 yards.

Robby Meredith tied Mike Festa 

Jack Brennan beat Jake Gregory 6-5 

Lenny Gipson beat Adam Profrock 4-2 

Mark Gates tied John Donahue 

Bern Popky beat Lucas Baldinger 4-3 

Greg Gipe beat Matt Duggan 5-4 

Chris Taylor beat Nick Lienhard 4-2 

Bryce Wyda beat Tyler Burton 1 up (Won 18th hole to win the match) 

The Winner of a singles match received one point towards the team score and a tie resulted in a half point towards the team score.

Penn State Abington – 4 

DelVal won the match on two predetermined tiebreakers. The first being a team tie will be broken by the team with the highest number of holes up and secondly the team that won match one will be declared the winner.  

The golf team will be back on the course on Thursday April 11 at 12:30 p.m. playing Brookside Country Club.
