Delaware Valley Softball Drops Both Games To Franklin & Marshall

LANCASTER, PA.- Delaware Valley softball traveled up to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to face off against Franklin & Marshall in a non-conference doubleheader. The Aggies entered the day with a record of 7-7 coming off two close losses to the returning MAC Freedom champions Misericordia. The Diplomats enter this game with a record of 6-10 and are coming off two losses to York College. Franklin & Marshall would go on to win both games of the doubleheader by a score of 5-4 and 4-0.

Pitching in the circle for Delaware Valley in game one is Madison Karns.

The Diplomats would start the scoring off in the bottom of the 1st with three consecutive base hits to start the inning to take a 1-0 lead early.

Franklin & Marshall would have two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Karns was able to force a ground out and get out of the jam to keep the score 1-0 through three innings played.

Delaware Valley would have their first chance with runners in scoring position in the top of the 4th inning with a Tori Bockrath walk, followed by a Madison Karns single. Jillian Ulozas and Madison Donnelly would both draw walks shortly after to tie up the score 1-1. The Aggies would then take advantage of a wild pitch that advanced Karns home, giving Delaware Valley a 2-1 lead.

The Aggies would extend their lead to 3-1 in the top of the 7th inning with a run scored on an error.

The Diplomats would tie up the game in the bottom of the 7th inning to make it 3-3.

Delaware Valley would take a 4-3 lead in the top of the 8th inning with an RBI single from Madison Karns.

Franklin & Marshall would go on to hit a walk-off home run in the bottom half of the inning to take the first game by a score of 5-4.


Starting in the circle for game two for Delaware Valley was Alyssa Scansaroli.

The Diplomats would get the bases loaded in the bottom of the 1st inning with two base hits and a hit by pitch. Scansaroli and the Aggies defense would get out of the jam with two putouts to keep the game scoreless.

 Tori Bockrath and Amelia Funston would both earn two out base hits in the top of the 4th to give the Aggies their first runner in scoring position of the game. The Diplomats would then force a strikeout and the game would remain 0-0.

Franklin & Marshall's offense would break through in the bottom of the 5th inning with a two run RBI double to take a 2-0 lead.

The Diplomats would score two more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to extend their lead 4-0.

The Aggies would get two runners on in the top of the 7th inning with base hits from both Amelia Funston and Jillian Ulozas. The Diplomats would turn a double play to end the game and Franklin & Marshall would hold on to a 4-0 win.

The Aggies fall to 7-9 on the season and 6-6 in non-conference play. Delaware Valley will be back in action tomorrow on Friday, March 29th, when they host the Ducks of Stevens in a conference doubleheader.
