DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team couldn't put together a lead larger than three points in the game against Lebanon Valley until a 16-2 run in the fourth quarter pushed the Aggies to a double-digit lead it wouldn't relinquish through the remainder of the game defeating the Dutchmen 70-54.
The lead changed hands six times through the first six minutes with Rahseem Dearry leading the scoring for DelVal with five points. Dearry converted the layup to put the Aggies head by one before calling a timeout, 11-10, with 14 minutes on the clock. Trailing by two,
Godly Marc shooting 2-of-2 from the line followed by a
Zoelin Pair layup to put DelVal in a two-point lead, 17-15.
The teams knotted the score twice more before the Flying Dutchmen sunk the three to lead by one, 21-20, with 7:41 still to play. The bucket kicked off a 10-2 run for LVC giving them the biggest lead yet, 28-22.
Zoelin Pair made the tip-in layup to start the Aggies on a short 6-2 run to keep the deficit at one. With just under two-minutes
Kamal Johnson converted the breakaway layup and drew the foul sinking the free throw to put the Aggies back in the lead, 32-30, to end the half.
The Dutchmen tried to pull away with the lead going for the three and missing with the rebound landing nearly mid-court where
Kamal Johnson collected it facing just one defenseman before converting the layup to put the Aggies back on top, 34-32, to start the second half. Trailing by one again, the Aggies put together a 6-2 run to take their largest lead, 40-37.
LVC tried to claw back, but wouldn't get closer than a single point before three-pointer from
Godly Marc as part of a 9-1 run from the Aggies expanded their lead nine, 51-42, forcing a Lebanon Valley timeout with 10:20 on the clock.
Godly Marc and
Antonio Redding combined for seven points out of the break to push the Aggies into a double-digit advantage, 58-44, and force another LVC timeout. DelVal held the 12-10 edge through the remainder of the game to walk away with the 70-54 victory.
