DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's basketball team took a narrow lead over Penn State Abington into the half but struggled to hold on dropping the contest 81-55 on Wednesday night.
The teams went through a nearly two-minute scoring drought before
Haley Keenan drew the foul shooting 2-of-2 from the line to put the Aggies on the board. DelVal controlled possession over the next minute and a half pulling ahead 9-2 before the Nittany Lions mounted a seven-point comeback to even the score, 9-9, with 5:44 remaining in the frame.
Alexis Wright took to the line sinking both shots to put the Aggies back ahead, 11-9, and begin a 6-5 run to give DelVal the single-point edge at the end of the first quarter, 15-14.

Jayla Rivera and Wright joined forces with a combined 11 points through the first four minutes of the second frame to build up a nine-point advantage, 26-17. The teams entered into a nearly two-minute scoring drought broken up by an 11-2 run for Penn State Abington to even the score, 28-28, with under two minutes on the clock. DelVal held on to the 4-2 edge to take a 32-30 lead into the half.
Momentum shifted in favor of the Nittany Lions with an 13-0 run through the first half of the third quarter to shift the lead, 43-32. Keenan converted the layup to stop the bleeding and bring the deficit back down into single-digits, 43-34. Abington regained a 10-point lead, but
Elizabeth Oresto answered the call big with the dunk followed by a Keenan layup to cut the deficit to six, 45-39, with 2:36 left in the frame. The Nittany Lions broke open the scoring with an 8-2 run to take a 53-41 lead into the final quarter.
The Nittany Lions outscored the Aggies 28-14 in the final frame for the 81-55 victory. DelVal shot just 3-of-18 from the field and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe in the final 10 minutes. Keenan and Ennis led the scoring efforts with five and four points, respectively.
Three Aggies ended the night in double figures led by Keenan with 20 points. The graduate student also recorded 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Keenan and Feliciano led the team in steals with three apiece.
DelVal returns to action this Saturday, Nov. 16 at Gwynedd Mercy for a 1 p.m. tip off.
