DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley football needed just one play to take an early lead, ultimately securing a decisive 28-0 victory over Albright College.
On the very first play of the game,
Louie Barrios IV connected with
Nahsir Morgan for a stunning 75-yard touchdown, marking Morgan's eleventh of the season.
Brendan Hazell successfully added the extra point, finishing the day a perfect 4-for-4.
The Aggies allowed the Lions to advance on their opening drive, but quarterback Chase Roberts was sacked for a ten-yard loss by
Shaun Balkcom on fourth down, halting their momentum.
Delaware Valley quickly regrouped, launching a touchdown drive that started on their own 19-yard line. Key catches from
Rob McConnell and
Dillon Shamanow for over 20 yards set up Morgan again, this time for a seven-yard score.
As the second quarter began, Morgan caught two more passes for a combined 37 yards.
Luan Avdijaj added a 14-yard rush, paving the way for
Elijah Williams to burst into the end zone, extending the Aggies' lead to 21-0.
When the Aggies regained possession,
Jack Fallon,
Nick Arcaroli, and
Brady Beres moved the ball to the Albright four-yard line.
Alvaro Lora received the handoff and rushed into the end zone for his first rushing touchdown of the season, sealing the game's final score.
Dante Vernieri stifled the Lions' next drive, sacking Roberts on fourth down deep in Aggie territory.
To start the second half,
Nick Choi and
Jordan Gonzalez pinned Albright back at their own seven-yard line. The Lions managed to advance only to their 25 before being forced to punt.
Rafael Torres disrupted Albright's next drive, breaking up a pass intended for Alden Stickler in the end zone.
The final frame saw more turnovers on downs. First, Balkcom hurried Roberts into an incompletion, followed by a sack from
John Mahana and
Chris Bressi.
With this shutout victory, the Aggies improved to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference play. Next week, they will travel to Wilkes-Barre to take on King's College at 1:00 p.m.
