Women’s Basketball Falls on the Road to Lebanon Valley

ANVILLE, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's basketball team took an early lead over Lebanon Valley in the first quarter, but failed to maintain the lead falling to the Flying Dutchmen 66-57 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Aggies dropped behind by four points early to start the first with Maisie Neuber and Ciana Feliciano combining for five points to put DelVal ahead by one, 5-4. The teams knotted the score three more times over the next six minutes tying at 11-11 when Haley Keenan hit the three to put the Aggies in the lead, 14-11. The Flying Dutchmen sunk a jumper at the buzzer to cut the deficit to one, 14-13, to end the first.
 
Lebanon Valley sent Alexis Wright to the line to start the second shooting 2-of-2 followed by a Keenan layup for a short 4-0 run to pull ahead 18-13. DelVal put up another five points through the 4:26 mark thanks to a Keenan three and Feliciano jumper to maintain six-point advantage before the Flying Dutchmen put together an 11-0 run through the end of the second to take a 28-23 lead into the second half.
 
The Flying Dutchmen's momentum continued into the third quarter outscoring the Aggies 19-13 in the frame to take an 11-point lead, 47-36, into the final frame. Five Aggies combined for the 13 points led by Keenan with four and Aubrey Ennis with three.   
 
Neuber got things going at the top of the fourth with a layup to start the Aggies on a short 5-2 run to cut the deficit to single digits, 49-41. The Flying Dutchmen reextended their lead 14, their largest of the game, off an 8-2 run. The Aggies tried to claw back with a 14-9 run through the end of the frame led by Alexis Wright ultimately dropping the contest 66-57.
 
DelVal returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at home against FDU-Florham at 7 p.m.
