DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Haley Keenan recorded 21 points and 12 rebounds in the contest at King's to lead to the Aggies to victory over the Monarchs 72-59. The win marks the team's first conference road win of the season. DelVal improves to 12-4 on the season and 3-2 in MAC Freedom play.
Maisie Neuber started the game with a layup to put DelVal on the board first. The King's tied the score twice before a short 4-0 spurt put the Aggies behind, 6-4.
Jenna Schiessl rose to the challenge sinking the three to put DelVal back in a single-point lead, 7-6, with just about five minutes to play in the first quarter.
Aubrey Ennis followed things up to make it a three-point game, 9-6. The lead changed hands in favor of the Monarchs twice more resulting in a two-point advantage at the 1:31 mark.
Kendra Rigo converted the layup in the final five seconds to tie the game, 13-13, at the end of the first quarter.
The teams tied the score twice more in the first 2:16 of the second frame sitting at 18-18 when the King's hit a three to take slight lead.
Haley Keenan and Ennis paired up for 6-0 run to put DelVal ahead by three, 24-21, with 3:35 to play. The Monarchs took back the lead by a single-point, 25-24, but a Neuber three-pointer started the Aggies on a 10-3 run to end the quarter with a six-point lead, 34-28.
A 4-4 effort from both teams in the first two minutes of the third quarter kept the Aggies lead to just six, 38-32. DelVal put together a 12-2 run through the next five minutes to pull ahead by double-digits, 50-34. King's was quick to respond holding the Aggies scorless through the remainder of the frame while putting up seven points to bring the deficit down to single-digits again, 50-41.
The squads continued to keep it an even affair each putting up seven points in the opening four minutes of the final quarter with DelVal continuing to lead by nine, 57-48. The Aggies then started on a 7-4 run, led by Neuber, to take a 12-point lead over the Monarchs, 64-52, with 1:20 remaining in the game. DelVal maintained an 8-7 edge through the final minute with four points from Keenan to walk away with the 72-59 victory.
DelVal returns to action this Saturday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. against DeSales at home in James Work Gymnasium.
