GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's basketball team dropped an early lead to Arcadia on the road ultimately losing the contest 70-58.
DelVal's record moves to 11-4 on the season and 2-2 in MAC Freedom play while the Knights improve to 14-1 overall and 3-1 in conference contests.
The Knights may have been the first to get on the board, but the first quarter was all Aggies with
Aubrey Ennis sinking the tying shot to start DelVal on a 7-3 run for a two-point lead. The lead changed hands back to Arcadia, but the Aggies were quick in response with another Ennis jumper kicking off a 7-0 run for the Aggies to put them in a 16-9 lead at the end of the first.
Ennis kicked things off in the second half converting the long ball to put DelVal ahead by 10, 19-9, until a quick 6-0 spurt from Arcadia closed the gap to four, 19-15. The Knights continued with an 11-8 edge over the next six minutes to cut the deficit to two, 26-24. The Aggies were held to just three points in the final minute to take just a single-point lead into the half, 29-28.
The momentum slowed in the second half for the Aggies with the Knights outscoring DelVal 42-29 shooting 51.72% from the field while holding the Aggies to 12-of-32 shooting. Two three-pointers in the first 4:30 of the third quarter shifted the lead in favor of the Knights with
Kendra Rigo responding with a three to tie the score, 42-42, with 2:13 in the third frame.
Arcadia started on a 6-3 run to end the frame and set the tone for the fourth quarter eventually building up an 18-point lead over the Aggies. A 9-3 run from DelVal comprised of four points from
Ciana Feliciano, three from
Jenna Schiessl and two from Ennis helped the Aggies bring the deficit back down to 12 to end the game, 70-58.
The Aggies continue a short road stint at King's College this Wednesday, Jan. 17 with a 7 p.m. tipoff.
