Timely Hitting and Stellar Pitching Leads Aggies to Third Straight Win with 8-2 Victory Over Hilbert

MYRTLE BEACH (S.C)--- The Delaware Valley baseball team scored six of their eight runs with two outs and received strong pitching performances from Dalton Moore and Colin Foley to pick up an 8-2 win over Hilbert for their third straight victory.

Hilbert scored just two batters into the game with an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead. The Aggies quickly answered in the bottom half of the frame to even up the score. After the first two batters were retired, Hank Bielen laced a double and Jonathan Drews drove him in with an RBI single.

The Hawks regained the lead in the top of the second with an RBI groundout to go back in front 2-1. Once again, DelVal used timely two-out hitting to answer. With runners on first and second, Blake Ramos singled into center to score Bobby Bright, evening the score at 2-2. Sean Gledhill followed Ramos with a two run double into right center to score Ramos and Reese Hackett, giving the Aggies a 4-2 lead after two innings.

After allowing a run in each of the first two innings, Dalton Moore settled in, allowing no runs over the next four innings. He finished with six innings pitched and allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking none.

The Aggies were held scoreless in innings three through five before Brendon Hoagland led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo homerun to right field to grow the lead to 5-2.

DelVal added some insurance in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI ground out from Blake Ramos and two-out, two-run single from Sean Gledhill, giving the Aggies an 8-2 lead after eight innings.

Colin Foley replaced Moore in the seventh and fired the final three innings of the game to pick up the save in his first collegiate appearance. He allowed no runs out two hits while striking out two with no walks.

Sean Gledhill led the way offensively for DelVal going 2-for-5 with four RBIs and a double. Jonathan Drews, Brendon Hoagland and Bobby Bright each added two hits while Bright and Hoagland each scored a pair of runs. Blake Ramos drove home a pair of runs for DelVal.

The Aggies will look to go perfect in Myrtle Beach as they finish their spring break trip tomorrow with a 6:30 p.m. start against Bethany.
