DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse got six points from sophomore Susan Rawding, but it was not enough to get past visiting King's College who came away with a 17-10 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory.
DelVal trailed 5-2 with 3:43 left in the first quarter before Rawding scored three goals 1:46 to tie the game at five apiece after one. Rawding netted four in the first while Kyra McKeegan, Samantha Charles, and Kiara Haywood-Rivera each earned assists.
King's scored the first three goals of the second to open up an 8-5 lead with 3:19 left in the half. The Aggies got their first of the second quarter with 92 seconds left in the stanza as they took advantage of a turnover. It was a failed clear in Monarchs territory and Rawding scooped up the ground ball and fed a wide open Kiara Haywood-Rivera in front of the net who deposited it in the net to make it 8-6.
Late in the half, Alli Lindsay found Grace Venis to get the goal back for King's as it took a three-goal lead into the halftime break.
The Monarchs outscored the Aggies, 5-0, in the third to take a 13-6 lead into the final 15 minutes of play. DelVal used a 4-1 run over the first half of the final stanza to pull within five, 15-10, but it was not enough as Venis scored twice before the end of regulation for the 17-10 final.
