Boyd Throws Shutout in Game Two of Doubleheader Split Against Cedar Crest

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.)--- Kenzie Boyd fired a three-hit shutout with no walks and three strikeouts in the Aggies' game two 1-0 win over Cedar Crest on Thursday. The visiting Falcons won game one of the doubleheader 19-4 in five innings.

GAME ONE

The Aggies (4-11-1) got the scoring started in game one in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Tori Bockrath to lead 1-0. After Bailey Smith fired a scoreless second inning, The Aggies tacked on to their lead in the second with three runs on four hits. Olivia Spofford laced an RBI triple to center field to score Jillian Ulozas to make it 2-0. Sierra Ripka followed with an RBI single to bring home Spofford to extend the lead to 3-0. Kenzie Boyd would bring home Ripka for the third run of the inning with an RBI single, giving the Aggies a 4-0 lead.

Cedar Crest (2-10) broke through in the third inning, scoring seven runs on five hits. The Falcon scored their first three runs on RBI singles to pull the score to 4-3. Back-to-back bases loaded walks put Cedar Crest in front 5-4 before two more bases loaded walks gave the Falcons their sixth and seventh runs of the inning.

Each team was held scoreless in the fourth inning before Cedar Crest ran away with the game in the fifth with 12 runs on seven hits. A walk and two wild pitches scored the first three runs of the inning to make it 10-4. The Falcons used four more RBI singles in the inning and scored another run on a wild pitch to finish off the 19-4 mercy rule victory.

Sierra Ripka, Kenzie Boyd and Madison Donnelly each had two hits for the Aggies. Renee Snyder went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Falcons.

GAME TWO

The first three innings saw just two hits between the two teams, both by DelVal, as Kenzie Boyd for the Aggies and Corrine Mundy for the Falcons were cruising in the circle.

The Aggies broke through for the game's first run in the bottom of the fifth when Carly Mahal brought home Olivia Spofford with an infield single with the bases loaded and two outs to give DelVal a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the seventh, the Falcons put a runner on second base with one out. Boyd got a flyout to right field for the second out and the Cedar Crest runner tagged up from second to third, but was eventually called out for leaving early to end the game.

Kenzie Boyd fired a shutout and gave up three hits and no walks while striking out three.

DelVal will return to action on Saturday, March 25th at Wilkes for a MAC Freedom doubleheader at 1 p.m.
