Comeback Effort Falls Short For Men's Lacrosse At Immaculata

IMMACULATA (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team erased a three-goal second half deficit, but saw the game slip away in the fourth as host Immaculata came away with a 13-9 victory.

The Aggies (3-6) trailed 7-3 a minute into the second half. They responded by putting together a 5-1 run over the next 12 minutes of play to tie the game at 8-8. Brett Ziegler got the run started with two goals separated by 1:27 to make it a two-goal game. Jack Sprinkle and Dan Aulisi each earned an assist.

After Anthony Inserra made it 8-5 Mighty Macs (6-3), DelVal ripped off three goals in six minutes and 40 seconds to knot the score at eight apiece. Sean Mylod scored his second of the game while Ziegler notched his third of the game and Sprinkle, his second point.

In the final 1:38 of the third, Immaculata beat the Aggies for two goals to take a 10-8 lead into the fourth. It opened the final stanza with two goals in the first five minutes to extend the advantage to 12-8.

Sprinkle added one in the fourth, but the Mighty Macs tacked on another for the 13-9 final.

Ziegler led DelVal with four goals to go with five ground balls and Aulisi notched three assists with nine ground balls and five caused turnovers. Mylod finished with two goals to go with seven ground balls and Frederick Offenburger won 16-of-25 faceoffs.

Inserra led Immaculata with five goals and an assist for six points while the Mighty Macs only won 10 faceoffs as a team.

DelVal outshot the home team 51-29 with a 28-22 edge in shots on goal.
