Softball Falls in Doubleheader at DeSales in MAC Freedom Opener on Saturday

CENTER VALLEY (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley University softball team traveled to DeSales University on Saturday for their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opener and fell in game one 6-0 before falling in game two 14-9.

GAME ONE

DeSales got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single to lead 1-0. The Bulldogs tacked on to their lead in the third with three runs on a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly and an RBI double to lead 4-0 after three innings.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Bulldogs tacked on another run with a sacrifice fly before adding another run in the bottom of the sixth on a single to score their sixth and final run.

Tori Bockrath went 2-for-3 for the Aggies and Makenna Cooper and Jililan Ulozas added doubles.

Kylie Bryant went 3-for-3 for DeSales and Tori Kenney had two RBIs.

GAME TWO

The Aggies truck first in the top of first with three runs on an error and bases loaded walks from Olivia Spofford and Makenna Cooper. DeSales answered right back in the bottom half, scoring four runs capped off by a Kylie Bryant three-run homerun to take a 4-3 lead.

Tori Kenney added a two-run single in the bottom of the second to extend the DeSales lead to 6-3 before DelVal got one back in the top of the third with a Kathleen McGeoy RBI triple, trimming the deficit to 6-4.

DeSales pulled away in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs on four hits with the help of a pair of Aggie errors to lead 12-4 after three innings.

The Aggies hung tough in the fourth, scoring three runs to close the gap to 12-7. Two runs scored on a wild pitch to trim the lead to 12-6 and Olivia Spofford brought home a run on an RBI bunt.

Kayleigh Ferraro hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the fourth to lead 14-7. That score held through six innings before DelVal plated two in the seventh on a Kenzie Boyd groundout and a Sierra Ripka RBI single.

Sierra Ripka went 3-for-5 for the Aggies and Jillian Ulozas went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

The Aggies return to action Tuesday, March 21st at PSU-Abington for a doubleheader starting at 3PM.
