DOYLESTOWN (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley softball team hosted Immaculata for their first home games of the season and came out on the losing end in both games, as the visiting Mighty Macs took game one 10-0 in five innings and game two 13-7.
GAME ONE
Immaculata (4-2) got off to a hot start, scoring two runs in the top of the first on an RBI single and an RBI double while taking advantage of an Aggie (3-6-1) error.
The visitors added to their lead in the top of the third with five runs on five hits including a two-run home run to center field.
After being held scoreless in the fourth, Immaculata tacked on three in the fifth with just one hit, but took advantage of an Aggie error and three walks and a hit by pitch to make it 10-0.
Mighty Mac starting pitcher Emma Mercadante fired a no-hitter allowing just two baserunners over five innings, both due to errors. The hurler struck out five and walked nobody.
Carlee Karcher had three hits for Immaculata, including a homerun.
GAME TWO
Immaculata picked up right where they left on from game one, scoring three runs on two hits, including a two-run single by Carlee Karcher.
The Aggies got a run back in the bottom of the frame after Kenzie Boyd led off with a triple and Carly Mahal brought her home with a groundout.
The Mighty Macs pushed four runs across in the third inning on a fielder's choice and a pair of RBI doubles to extend their lead to 7-1. They grew their lead to 8-1 in the fourth thanks to an Aggie error.
DelVal didn't go away quietly, as the hosts scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 8-4. After the Aggies loaded the bases with one out, Yasmine Gonzalez brought home Madison Donnelly with a sacrifice fly. Danielle Helwig then drove in a pair of runs with a double to make it 8-4.
After a scoreless fifth, Immaculata extended their lead to 9-4 with an RBI single. In the top of the seventh, Rylee Martin jacked a grand slam to blow the game open at 13-4.
The Aggies continued to fight in the bottom of the seventh, as Olivia Rexrode and Boyd had back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. Carly Mahal brought home a run with a single and Tori Bockrath drove in a pair of runs with a groundout, but the Aggies could get no closer.
Kenzie Boyd, Carly Mahal, Madison Donnelly and Sierra Ripka all had two hits in game two, while Mahal, Tori Bockrath and Danielle Helwig each drove in two runs apiece.
Five different Mighty Macs collected multiple hits in the game, with Lauren Carboni recording three. Â
The Aggies will return to action Saturday, March 18th at DeSales for their first MAC Freedom contest starting at 1PM.
