FREDERICK (Md.) – The Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team fell to Hood College, 16-3, in a non-conference road affair on Saturday afternoon.
The Aggies dropped to 2-2 overall while the Blazers remained perfect at 5-0.
In the first quarter, shots were 12-8 in favor of the home team. Hood found the back of the net twice in a span of two minutes, 53 seconds and maintained a 2-0 lead into the second quarter.
The Blazers blew the game open in the second, outscoring DelVal 9-0 to take an 11-goal lead into the halftime break. Hood had two man-up goals and Rio Muldoon led the way with four goals and two assists in the half.
The Aggies scored first in the third quarter as Cole Graeff scored an unassisted tally just under five minutes in. Chris Marren added a man-up goal and Jack Sprinkle found the back of the net in the fourth, but it was not enough to overcome the early deficit. Sprinkle also added an assist on Marren's goal. Aidan Purcell and Jim Murphy split time in net and each made eight saves for DelVal. Sean Mylod paced the defense with five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Hood won 15-of-22 face offs and Muldoon finished with six points. Colby Gallagher followed with five points on three goals and two assists, while Alex Dudziak made seven saves in three quarters of action between the pipes.
The Aggies will return home for two games next week, beginning with Goucher College on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
