Neuber Drains 21 in Convincing Win Over Wilkes

Doylestown, Pa. - Maisie Neuber drained a season-best 21 points to help the Delaware Valley women's basketball team past Wilkes University 70-51 on Saturday afternoon.

Haley Keenan got the afternoon started by sinking a layup one minute into the game. The Aggies opened the first five minutes of action on a 13-3 run capitalized by a Ciana Feliciano jumper after stealing the ball from the Colonials. Neuber scored the next five points holding an eight-point advantage before her and Keenan stretched the lead to 14 with two minutes remaining.

In the second, Wilkes inched back into the game, closing the gap to five points after Emma Stout hit a three-pointer. Feliciano found Aubrey Ennis upcourt at 6:30 to step back for three before a three-minute scoreless drought. The Colonials ended the half on a 7-2 run, now only down four going into the locker room.

Alexis Wright fouled sending Matos to the line to hit both her shots to open the third quarter. The Aggies then scored the next 11 points, up 45-32. Feliciano and Neuber helped DelVal hold a 12-point advantage.

Four minutes into the final frame, Keenan drained a step-back three which was followed by a tech foul called on Wilkes Julianna Askins. Neuber was sent to the line after another Askins foul, hitting both, she gave the Aggies the largest lead of the contest. Payton Witman connected on a pair of free throws and a layup in the final seconds, the first points of the first-years career, she also hauled in two rebounds in her three minutes of action.

Following the victory, the Aggies improved to 9-2 overall and are now off for winter break until the new year when they host their first MAC Freedom contest of the season, Misericordia, on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 5:00 p.m.
