Fourth Quarter Run from Ennis Pushes Aggies to Victory Over Neumann

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Trailing by two with five minutes left in play, Delaware Valley women's basketball sophomore Aubrey Ennis sunk the three-pointer to put the Aggies on top and started a solo 8-4 run to lead DelVal to victory over Neumann, 56-54. The win marks the fifth-straight for DelVal and second consecutive on its home court.

Scoring on both sides of the court was slow to start with the teams trading points to tie it up at 6-6, before the Knights stepped up to the line for two good free throws to take a two-point edge. The momentum quickly shifted in the direction of the Aggies with Haley Keenan converting the first three of the game to put DelVal ahead 9-8. The lead changed four more times over the ensuing five minutes with neither team gaining more than one point on the other. The final lead change of the frame swung in favor the Aggies when Keenan sunk the jumper in the final seconds to give DelVal the 13-12 edge to end the first quarter.

Strong shooting in the second frame propelled the Aggies to a 19-15 advantage over the Knights through the 10 minutes. DelVal recorded 7-of-10 from the field including a perfect 100% effort from beyond the arc and 4-of-5 performance from the line to take their biggest lead of five points, 32-27, into the second half.

The Knights regrouped and started the half on a 5-0 run through the first 1:30 to tie the score, 32-32. The teams exchanged baskets before DelVal started on a 5-0 run of its own to regain its five-point lead, 39-34. Neumann was there to answer the call with five straight to tie the score once again, 39-39, with 4:37 to play in the frame. The Knights held the 10-3 advantage over the Aggies to take a six-point lead, 48-42, into the final quarter.

DelVal battled for the 6-2 advantage through the first five minutes to cut its deficit to two, 50-48. Neither team was able to convert over the course of two minutes with Aubrey Ennis ending the scoring drought sinking the three ball to put the Aggies back on top 51-50 with three minutes remaining. The bucket started a 7-4 run from the Aggies with all points coming from Ennis to keep DelVal in a single-point lead, 55-54, with 00:57.5 remaining in the game forcing a Neumann timeout. The Aggies held off the Knights offense with Ennis drawing a foul at the buzzer sinking 1-of-2 for the 56-54 win.

Ennis's eight of nine points came in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter. DelVal was led by Maisie Neuber for the second-straight game. Neuber went 5-of-13 from the field and 1-of-2 from the charity stripe for 17 points. Keenan also ended the night in double figures with 13 points.

DelVal returns to action this Saturday, Dec. 1 with a 1 p.m. tipoff against Gwynedd Mercy at home in James Work Gymnasium.
