Delaware Valley Field Hockey hosted the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College late afternoon on Wednesday, October 11th. This was the first official conference matchup between these two teams since Lebanon Valley joined the MAC Freedom Conference prior to the 2023 season. The Aggies would fall to the Dutchmen by a score of 3-0.
Lebanon Valley would go on to score the first goal of the game in the remaining seconds of the first quarter when the Dutchmen had a penalty corner with two seconds left on the clock. They would score the crucial goal as first year Claire Weidenhammer scored goals in back to back games for the Lebanon Valley to make it 1-0. After a scoreless second period, Lebanon Valley would extend their lead 2-0 as sophomore Gracie Johnson scored off a nice pass from senior Emily Kline. The Dutchman would score in the fourth quarter as senior Sorrell Long scored off a rebounded shot from senior Alana Antonello to increase their lead 3-0. Lebanon Valley would hold on and earn the shutout victory for the Dutchmen. That win marks the first MAC Freedom conference win for Lebanon Valley as new members of the conference.
The Aggies were led by senior
Alyssa Rudd with twelve saves and senior
Sydney Keagle with two shots, including a great chance on goal. The Aggies will be back in action on Friday, October 13th as they host the Devils of FDU Florham.
