Dominant First Half Leads Men’s Basketball to 20 Point Win Over King’s

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley men's basketball team led by 20 at halftime before leading by as many as 30 in the third quarter, as the Aggies cruised to a 79-59 win over King's on their home court.

King's (6-11, 1-8) held an 8-6 lead six minutes into the game before DelVal took control of the game. Casey Caruso and Goddy Marc hit back-to-back threes to put the Aggies (9-9, 4-5) up four. After a Monarch free throw, Francis Robles Montas hit a foul shot before Goddy Marc connected from long range again before a Godly Marc layup capped a 12-1 Aggie run over two and a half minutes. Two King's buckets cut the deficit back to five, but the Aggies answered again with a 12-0 run to lead 30-13. During the run, the Aggies got points from six different players, including a three pointer from Casey Caruso. The Monarchs got back on the board with two free throws before DelVal used a 9-0 run capped off by a Zoelin Pair dunk to lead 39-15. Overall, DelVal shot 53.6% from the field over the first 20 minutes while holding the Monarchs to just 26.1%.

The Aggies came out on fire in the second half as Francis Robles Montas got the scoring started with a layup. Tyriq Toney-Bailey followed up with a triple and Jordan Gombs capped off an 8-0 run with an and-one. Four straight points from King's cut the lead to 24 before Ewens Lizima started a 6-0 run for the Aggies that included a big dunk on a fast break from Goddy Marc. The run gave DelVal their largest lead of the game at 55-25. King's briefly cut the lead to 19 on two different occasions, but the Aggies held steady on the way to a 79-59 win.

Goddy Marc finished with a game-high 16 points, three shy of a career high. He was 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Casey Caruso finished with 12 points, giving him double digit points in four straight games.

Tremaine Kynard finished with a career-high 10 points while knocking down all three of his three pointer attempts.

Zoelin Pair and Jordan Gombs each finished with seven points and seven rebounds.

Ewens Lizima and Godly March finished with five assists apiece.

The Aggies forced 20 turnovers while coughing up possession just 12 times. They also outshot King's 45% to 33% on the day.

DelVal currently sits at 4-5, tied for fifth place with both Misericordia and Arcadia. The Aggies next game is Wednesday, January 25 at Stevens who is one game up in fourth place at 5-4. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
