DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team won its second match in as many days with another 3-2 thriller, this one over non-conference foe Centenary University, on home court.
The Aggies (5-4) won the first and third sets by identical scores, 25-18, and won the fifth set, 15-6. The Cyclones (1-7) won the second set, 25-17, and won the fourth set, 25-21.
DelVal had 62 kills, 32 errors, and nine service aces over the five sets while Centenary finished with 40 kills, 19 errors, and eight aces.
Four Aggies placed in double digit kills including Olivia Deffendall with 18 followed by Grace Kane and Victoria Tucker with 12 apiece, and Emma Helverson with 10. Cat Nemil set another career-high in assists with 54, breaking her previous high of 53 set the night before. Nemil also recorded a team-best 19 digs in tonight's win while Kane and Grace Wilson each pitched in 11. Deffendall added nine digs and led the squad with four service aces.
The Cyclones were led by Mya Burnett's 16 kills and an 11 kill, 11 dig effort from Alyssa Bizzarro. Kim Stallworth added 17 digs and led the team with three service aces.
DelVal will look to continue its winning ways at the Alvernia tri-match with New Jersey City University on Saturday, September 24 at 11 a.m.
