LEBANON (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 49th Dutchmen Invitational on Saturday morning at Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon.
The women's team finished 15th of 24 teams led by Alyssa Blackmon's 36th place showing in a field of 190 competitors, while Carter Owen led the men with a 74th place finish of 216 collegiate runners from all divisions of the NCAA.
Blackmon finished the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes, 56.2 seconds to finish inside the top-40. First-year Molly Laird followed with a mark of 24:40.2 and sophomore Samantha McCurry was close behind at 24:51.3. Sarah Mullen (26:33.9) and Catherine Couse (27:59.3) rounded out the Aggies and a team score of 423.
Navy finished first with a total of 26 team points and Ursinus College finished second with 95 points. The Bears' Rachel Conhoff finished first overall with a time of 18:47.3.
On the men's side, Owen's mark of 28:58.5 on the 8,000-meter course was a personal best and finished inside the top 35-percent of the field. Justin Kaufman was the next Aggie across the line with a time of 30:27.6 for 120th overall. First-years Matthew Skikus (30:54.9) and Brance Fronheiser (36:11.4) rounded out the group.
Lebanon Valley College will be the host site of the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Cross Country Championships for the men's and women's teams. The MAC Championships are slated for Saturday, October 29th. DelVal's next race will be in 20 days on Friday, September 30th at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
