Cooper and Ait Boulahri Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

ANNVILLE (Pa.) – Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Executive Director Megan Morrison announced the 2022 Academic All-MAC teams for winter and spring sports and two Delaware Valley University student-athletes were recognized in senior men's wrestler Youssef Ait Boulahri, and senior men's indoor and outdoor track and field athlete Logan Cooper.

The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50-percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.

Ait Boulahri graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. Earlier this year, he earned the prestigious MAC Wrestling Senior Scholar-Athlete award and was named a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). A three-time MAC Academic Honor Roll honoree, Ait Boulahri led the team this year with an .846 winning-percentage with 22 wins and four losses, and represented the men's wrestling team at the National Championship tournament. He reached nationals with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Southeast Regionals where he went 3-1 at 174 pounds. For his career, he totaled 44 wins, a .759 winning-percentage, and 11 pins.

Cooper also completed his degree this spring, earning a bachelor's in Zoo Science. A four-time MAC Academic Honor Roll member for both winter and spring track and field, Cooper earns the Academic All-MAC honors for the first time in his career. At the Greyhound Invitational in April, Cooper had a strong performance with a third place showing in the men's 400-meter race where he clocked a 49.3 second finish, the fastest recorded time in the MAC this year.  As the anchor of the 4x400-meter relay teams during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, Cooper brought home a pair of all-conference accolades. He helped the team to a runner-up finish during indoor season with a new school record time of 3:27.13 before taking gold at outdoors and setting a new personal record with a mark of 3:25.25.

It is the first academic all-MAC honors for both Ait Boulahri and Cooper.
