Aggies End Season with Walk-Off Win Over Misericordia on Senior Day

DOYLESTOWN (PA)--- The Delaware Valley baseball team concluded their 2022 campaign with a walk-off sacrifice fly off the bat of Kenny Tunison to beat Misericordia 2-1 in game two of today's doubleheader. The Aggies fell in game one 11-2. Between games, DelVal honored their two seniors, Timmy Lallis and Shawne Eldridge.

The win moves the Aggies to 15-23 (4-17), one year after finishing 3-27. Misericordia finishes 26-14 (15-6) and will be the number two seed in the MAC Freedom playoffs.

GAME ONE

Misericordia pushed across two runs in the top of the first one an RBI double by Brady Madden and a run-scoring single from Brock Bollinger. In the bottom of the frame, DelVal responded with an RBI single from Hank Bielen to trim the deficit to 2-1.

In the top of the second, the Cougars used four hits and took advantage of three Aggie errors to score four runs, all unearned, to pull ahead 6-1. Derrick Vosburg tacked on to the lead with a solo homerun to right field in the fourth to make it 7-1.

After Hank Bielen brought home a run in the sixth by grounding into a double play, Misericordia blew the game open with four runs in the top of the seventh on four hits.

Garrett McIlhenney, Derrick Vosburg, Brock Bollinger and Connor Maryniak each had three hits for the Cougars and Austin Miles added four on his own.

Shawne Eldridge finished game one 2-for-3 while Garrett Zimmerman and Hank Bielen each added a hit.

GAME TWO

The final game of the season ended up being a pitcher's duel, as Aggie start Ridge Watson and Cougar starter David McCurry had the game scoreless through four innings.

In the top of the fifth, Connor Maryniak brought home Santino Manganella with an RBI single to put Misericordia ahead 1-0.

After the Aggies were held without a run in the fifth, Bobby Bright lifted a single into left field in the sixth inning to bring home Gage Ambruster from second base to even the score at 1-1.

Dalton Moore, who came in relief for Watson in the fifth, worked a 1-2-3 top of the seventh for the Aggies.

In the bottom half, Reese Hackett worked a four-pitch walk to lead off. Andrew Panfile followed with a sacrifice bunt back to the pitcher, but Cougar hurler Tyler Leonard sailed the throw to first, putting runners on the corners with nobody out. Kenny Tunison then stepped to the plate and drove a line drive to left center field, deep enough to score Hackett from third to end the game.

Ridge Watson allowed one earned run on two hits and no walks with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings for the Aggies. Dalton Moore picked up his second win, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings in relief while scattering three hits.

Garrett Zimmerman went 2-for-3 for the Aggies while Kenny Tunison, Timmy Lallis and Bobby Bright each added a hit.
