ALLENTOWN (PA)--- The Delaware Valley softball team traveled to Cedar Crest College for a pair of games and saw Makenna Cooper and Olivia Monismith each hit homeruns, but eventually fell in game one 7-2 before losing game two 11-4.
GAME ONE
The Aggies struck first to open up the day when Makenna Cooper lifted a two-run homerun the opposite way to right center to give DelVal a 2-0 lead.
That score held until the fourth when Cedar got the bats rolling as they plated a pair of runs on a double from Nicole Santaniello and an RBI single by Delaney Vanbuskirk to tie the game at 2-2.
The Falcons then broke the game open with a five-run fifth on four RBI singles and a passed ball to lead 7-2, a lead they would hold on to.
Olivia Monismith struck out eight in a complete game effort.
GAME TWO
DelVal wasted no time putting runs on the board in game two, as Olivia Monismith hit a two-run homerun as the third batter of the game for an early 2-0 lead.
Cedar Crest quickly answered in the bottom half of the frame, pushing five runs across on five hits to take a 5-2 lead heading to the second.
An RBI single and a two-run double in the second inning extend the Cedar Crest lead to 8-2.
Emily Merrigan continued to swing the bat well after a good week last week, as she drove home Monismith with a double before scoring on a wild pitch to trim the lead to 8-4.
Cedar Crest would score the final runs of the game with one in the fourth and two in the fifth to win 11-4.
Olivia Monismith went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a homerun while Adina Brucie went 2-for-3 for the Aggies.
DelVal will return to MAC Freedom play with a doubleheader at home against Stevens starting at 3 p.m.
