DOYLESTOWN (PA)---The Delaware Valley softball team earned their first two MAC Freedom victories of the season, as Olivia Monismith fired consecutive shutouts to help the Aggies to a 8-0 victory in game one and a 4-0 triumph in game two.
GAME ONE
Lycoming (4-10, 0-2) posed their biggest threat of the day in the top of the first inning, as the Warriors put runners on second and third with one out before Olivia Monismith picked up back-to-back strikeouts to strand the runners.
The Aggies (6-9, 2-4) broke through for the game's first run in the bottom of the fourth when Yasmine Gonzaled ripped an RBI single to score Gabrielle Landis, giving DelVal a 1-0 lead.Â
In the bottom of the fifth, Sierra Ripka started a big inning for the Aggies with a single to center field with two outs. After Carly Mahal and Monismith each singled to load the bases, Emily Merrigan laced a two-run single to center to extend the lead to 3-0. Alyssa Gerdy followed with a single into right field to make it 4-0.

Yasmine Gonzalez continued the big frame as she singled into left. Gerdy and Merrigan each came around to score on an error and Gonzalez ended on third base.
Bailey Smith capped off the six-run fifth with an RBI single up the middle.
Monismith finished off the victory with an RBI single in the sixth, bringing the mercy rule into effect.Â
Caitlyn Pollock went 3-for-3 in game one with a stolen base. Sierra Ripka, Yasmine Gonzalez, Carly Mahal and Olivia Monismith each collected two hits for DelVal and Emily Merrigan drove in a pair of runs. Eight different Aggies scored a run.
On the mound, Monismith allowed just three hits with no walks while striking out nine.
DelVal scored a season-high eight runs while collecting a season-high 14 hits in the game.
GAME TWO
The Aggies wasted no time building off their impressive game one offensive showing, as they struck first with a run in the bottom of the first when Alyssa Gerdy brought home Olivia Monismith with an infield single.
DelVal added on to their lead in the bottom of the fourth with a Caitlyn Pollock sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 2-0.Â
In the bottom of the fifth, Monismih helped her own cause with a two-run double to left center to bring home Carly Mahal and Sierra Ripka, giving the Aggies a 4-0 advantage.Â
Alyssa Gerdy went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in game two, while Sierra Ripka went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Olivia Monismith drove in a pair of runs.
After an impressive showing in the circle in game one, Monismith once again fired a shutout, allowing two hits with no walks and eight strikeouts.
The Aggies return to action Tuesday, April 5th for a doubleheader at Moravian University at 3 p.m.
