Aggies Downed by Ursinus on Day Three at Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH (SC)--- The Delaware Valley baseball team fell behind early and couldn't capitalize with runner's on base, as Ursinus pulled away late for a 12-2 win.

Ursinus (5-2) got on the board in the top of the first inning with an RBI double by Tom Snipes to take a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the second, Dylan Crammer singled home a run followed by a two-run double to right center by Jakob Cantor, giving the Bears a 4-0 lead after two innings.

The Aggies (3-2) got the bats rolling in the bottom of the fourth, cutting the lead to 4-2. Shawne Eldridge led off with a hit-by-pitch and advanced to second on a fielder's choice. With two outs, Brendon Hoagland ripped a single to right to score Eldridge for DelVal's first run of the game. James Kelly followed up with an RBI double to left to bring the deficit to 4-2.

Ursinus wasted no time getting those runs back in the top of the fifth, as Nick Diaz scorched a two-run double to right center to push the lead back to four at 6-2. Both runs were unearned.

The Aggies had a chance to answer in the bottom half of the frame after two hit-by-pitches and a wild pitch put runners on second and third with outs, but Ursinus reliever David Kratz picked up a strikeout to end the inning.

The Bears pushed across four more runs in the top of the seventh with a Diaz RBI single, a Crammer two-run double and a wild pitch.

Jared Minnick capped off the day with a two-run double in the top of the ninth.

James Kelly finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Aggies.

Zak Clark turned in a solid outing out of the bullpen throwing 1.2 scoreless innings allowing one hit and two walks while striking out two.

The Aggies will continue their spring break trip Wednesday against Cairn at 1:30 at Pelicans Stadium.
