DOYLESTOWN (PA)--- The Delaware Valley women's lacrosse team hosted Immaculata University in non-conference action for their first home game of the season, but came out on the losing end, 13-7.
After an early Immaculata goal, Gabby Borst got the Aggies on the board to tie the score at 1-1 just over four minutes into the game. The Mighty Macs scored just 35 seconds later to go back in front 2-1 before Kiara Haywood-Rivera tied the game at 2-2 with her first goal of the game, as the score would remain tied heading to the second quarter.
Two Immaculata goals early in the second put the visitors ahead 4-2. Jaden Keefer answered for DelVal, netting her first goal of the season to bring the Aggies back to within one. Kaitlyn Klitchko would send the Mighty Macs into halftime with a 5-3 lead, scoring her fourth goal of the first half with 4:21 left.
Immaculata came out strong in the third, tallying the first two goals to give them their largest lead at 7-3. Haywood-Rivera's second goal of the contest cut the deficit to 7-4 before the Mighty Macs would answer to lead 8-4 after three quarters.
The fourth quarter saw plenty of action as Ashley Hankin scored the first two of eight goals to put the visitors ahead 10-4. Keefer, Haywood-Rivera and Kyra McKeegan each scored goals for the Aggies in the fourth, but it wasn't enough, as Immaculata won the final frame 5-3 to come away with the 13-7 victory.
Kiara Haywood-Rivera scored three goals to lead the Aggies while Jaden Keefer scored two. Gabby Borst and Kyra McKeegan each tallied one goal.
Kaitlyn Klitchko scored a game-high five goals for Immaculata.
Ashley Finkbiner made six saves between the pipes in the win, while Katie Frey saved seven shots for the Aggies in her first game in net of the season.
DelVal will be back in action Wednesday, March 9th for a 4 p.m. start at Muhlenberg.
