Women's Lacrosse Drops 15-8 Non-Conference Contest At Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team went back on the road for the first time in three games and dropped a 15-8 non-conference decision at Lancaster Bible College.

The Chargers (5-1) leading scorer, Katelynn Perrotta, needed just 1:08 to start the scoring as she buried her 25th of the season.

The Aggies (0-4) answered 1:27 later with Kyra McKeegan finding Ashley Birmingham for her seventh of the year to tie the game at 1-1 in the early going.

Lancaster Bible outscored DelVal 4-2 for the remainder of the first stanza to take a 5-3 lead into the second. McKeegan and Sam McCurry were the goal scorers for the Aggies.

Kiara Haywood-Rivera made it a one-goal game with her fifth of the season, an unassisted tally 1:22 into the second. DelVal was held of the board the rest of the half, and the home team posted two more with Perrotta and Ream each netting their third goals of the contest to give the Chargers a 7-4 lead at halftime.

Just 26 seconds into the second half, Ream potted her fourth of the game to make it a four-goal game. The Aggies quickly cut the deficit in half with goals from Haywood Rivera and Jaden Keefer separated by a minute, 40  seconds, to get it back to a two-goal deficit, 8-6, with 12:06 left in the third.

Ream made it 9-6 with just under 10 minutes left in the third quarter and Lancaster Bible scored three more times in the next five minutes to open up a 12-6 lead. Keefer got one back for DelVal just before the end of the stanza, but the Chargers outscored the Aggies, 3-1, in the fourth to secure the 15-8 victory.

Ream and Perrotta combined for 17 points to lead the Chargers. Ream posted eight goals and two assists while Perrotta had four goals and three helpers to go with three caused turnovers. Alexis Garrett made seven saves in the win.

At the other end, Katie Frey made 10 saves in goal for DelVal while McKeegan paced the offense with three points on a goal and two assists. Keefer and Haywood-Rivera each scored twice while Birmingham, McCurry, and Katie Grover added one goal each. TJ Smith led the team with five ground balls and Ashley Chrencik caused two turnovers and scooped four ground balls.

The Aggies have two non-conference games on the schedule before beginning conference play. They will travel to take on Cedar Crest College on Tuesday, March 22 at 6:00 p.m.
