Men's Hoops Defeats Lycoming On The Road, 67-60

WILLIAMSPORT (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's basketball team travelled to Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Lycoming College on Saturday afternoon and came home with a hard-fought, 67-60, triumph.

The Aggies improved to 12-8 overall and 6-5 in league play while the Warriors fell to 13-8 and 8-4.

The two teams went traded blows over the first half of the opening stanza with DelVal holding a 15-14 lead with 9:16 on the clock.

The Aggies maintained a 21-19 lead with just under six minutes left in the half. An and-1 conversion by senior Edward Jones sparked a 9-3 run capped by a Pernell Ghee 3-pointer that extended DelVal's lead to eight, 30-22. Ghee closed the half with a pair of free throws to lift the Aggies to a 36-29 lead at halftime.

The Green and Gold opened up a double-digit lead early in the second after a put-back by Ghee and a jumper in the paint from Jordan Gombs made it 40-29.

A 6-2 run by the home team closed the gap to five, 42-37, with 16:27 still to play. Later in the half, with under six minutes left in regulation, Lycoming pulled within two after a 6-0 spurt.

The Aggies quickly responded with the next five points including a two from Gombs and a 3-pointer from Paulus. DelVal closed out the game going 5-for-9 from the charity stripe and Thomas Ibidapo added a big dunk to seal the seven-point league triumph.

The Aggies placed three athletes in double-figures including a team-high 16 points from Ghee to go with 10 rebounds. Ibidapo added a season-high 14 points to go with eight boards and three assists and Paulus pitched in 10 points with four boards. Ryan Black came off the bench to add seven points. DelVal won the rebound battle, 40-37.

DeAundre Manuel led all players in the game with 21 points and Dyson Harward reached a double-double with 17 rebounds and 10 points.

DelVal will travel to Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday for an 8 p.m. tip.
