GLENSIDE (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley women's basketball traveled to Arcadia for a MAC Freedom contest and outscored the Knights by five in both the first and fourth quarters to pick up a 48-43 win.
The Aggies (4-4, 2-1) opened up the game strong winning the first quarter 20-15 while shooting 40% from the field and forcing six turnovers. Alexis Wright and Haley Keenan combined to score the first 18 points for DelVal to give the Aggies a 18-10 lead. A Sophie Chevres layup extend the lead to 10 before the Knights closed the gap to 20-15 after the first.
The second quarter slowed down significantly as the Knights won the second frame 9-8. Maisie Neuber scored the first four points of the quarter for the Aggies, extending the lead to 24-17. Keenan accounted for the other four points for DelVal before halftime. Arcadia shot 44% in the second quarter to trail 28-24.
The Knights kept up the stout defense in the third as they outscored the Aggies 9-5 with four of those points coming from the free throw line. Both team's defenses allowed just two made field goals in the quarter as the game was tied at 33-33 heading into the fourth after Arcadia finished on a 7-0 run after trailing 33-26.
Tori Bockrath and Keenan opened the fourth with back-to-back buckets to put the Aggies back in front by four with eight minutes to play. After an Arcadia three point, Bockrath answered with a bucket for the Aggies. Team traded baskets one more time before Keenan hit a free throw and a layup to give DelVal a four point cushion with 4:46 left. Neither team scored for over three minutes until an Arcadia free throw trimmed the lead to 44-41 with 1:41 remaining. After teams traded two free throws apiece, Maisie Neuber sealed the win for the Aggies with a layup with 23 seconds left for the game's last basket, giving DelVal the 48-43 win.
Haley Keenan led all scores with 17 points while adding seven steals, four assists and four rebounds.
Alexis Wright scored a career-high for the second straight game as the first-year poured in 15 points.
Maisie Neuber was the final Aggie in double figures, finishing with ten points, four rebounds and three steals.
Taylor Richardson grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds for the Aggies.
DelVal forced 25 Arcadia turnovers and held the Knights to just 31.7% shooting from the field.
The Aggies will look to make it three wins in a row on Saturday, December 10th at home against Lycoming at 1 p.m.
