Four Aggies Score in Double Figures as Women’s Basketball Earns First Conference Win at King’s

WILKES BARRE (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley women's basketball team saw four players score in double figures as the Aggies outscored the Monarchs 23-14 in the fourth quarter to earn their first conference win of the season, 58-51.

After a majority of the first quarter saw the score within one possession, Haley Keenan scored back-to-back buckets to lead 13-8 before the Aggies (3-4, 1-1) led by three after the first.

Taylor Richardson opened the second quarter with a jumper to push the DelVal lead back to five, but King's (1-8, 0-3) put together a 6-0 run to give them their first lead since 2-0. The Aggies answered right back with a small 5-0 burst to go ahead by four. The teams traded leads one final before halftime as DelVal took a 24-21 lead into the break.

Midway through the third quarter, Delaware Valley led 33-28 before the Monarchs responded. A 9-0 run from the hosts gave them their largest lead of the game at 37-33 before leading 37-35 heading into the fourth.

First-year Alexis Wright put the Aggies an and-one with 6:30 to play. Wright continued her impressive play scoring the next four points with a bucket and a pair of free throws, growing the Aggies lead to 45-39. Trailing 47-41, King's scored seven straight points to take a 48-47 lead with 2:01 to play. Haley Keenan grabbed the lead right back just 30 seconds later with an old fashioned three point play, giving the Aggies a 50-48 lead. In the final 39 seconds, Sophie Chevres went 4-for-4 from the free throw line and Richardson and Wright added buckets to secure the 58-51 lead for the Aggies.
