DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team opened Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play with a 68-43 home setback against Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday night.
The Ducks (6-1, 1-0 MAC Freedom) started the game on an 11-0 run and never looked back. The Aggies (2-4, 0-1 MAC Freedom) put up 13 points in the first but found themselves in a 10-point hole heading into the second. Maisie Neuber led DelVal with seven points in the stanza as four Aggies got on the scoresheet.
Stevens held the home team to just four points in the second quarter and took a 41-17 lead into the halftime break.
The Aggies outscored the Ducks 21-14 in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as the visitors cruised to victory.
Stevens had 10 different players score in the game led by Danielle Cornetta's 16 points to go with eight rebounds and three steals. Elissa Nsenkyire followed with 15 points, three rebounds, and three steals while Amber Porrett pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.
Neuber led all players with 13 rebounds and added a tea-high 13 points for a double-double. Taylor Richardson and Haley Keenan were each perfect from the line and both finished with eight points. Richardson added five rebounds and three steals. Sophie Chevres picked up six steals to go with three points and two rebounds
