DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – Junior guard Haley Keenan recorded career highs in points and steals and the Delaware Valley University women's basketball team rolled to an 84-45 home non-conference rout of Penn State Abington.
Keenan finished with 30 points and 10 steals, surpassing her previous career bests of 28 points and six steals set last season. It was also a career day for first-year standouts Tori Bockrath, Maisei Neuber and Alexis Wright. Bockrath scored a season-high 17 points to go with five rebounds and four assists while Wright and Neuber reached career-highs in rebounds with 10 and nine, respectively. The Aggies racked up 23 steals as a team and forced 32 turnovers to improve to 2-3 overall.
DelVal led by 11 after one and grew its lead to 45-22 by halftime. At the break the Aggies were shooting an even 50-percent from the field and from beyond the arc while the defense held the Nittany Lions (1-2) to 9-of-26 shooting.
The Green and Gold continued their torrid play in the second half and outscored the visitors 39-23 to close out the 39-point victory. DelVal won the turnover battle, 32-10, but Abington held a narrow 43-38 advantage on the glass for the game.
First-year Aubrey Ennis pitched in 13 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Aggies and Taylor Richardson grabbed four rebounds with a career-high six steals to go with two points.
The Nittany Lions were led by Angela Sanders' 18 points and 11 rebounds to go with three assists, two blocks and two steals. Camille Fleming came off the bench to add eight points, eight rebounds, and a pair of steals.
DelVal will have nine days to prepare for its first league game of the season against Stevens Tech at home on Wednesday, November 30 at 8 p.m.
