GWYNEDD (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley women's basketball team battled against William Patterson in the consolation game of the Gwynedd Mercy Tip-Off Tournament and fell to the Pioneers 63-49.
The Aggies jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first three and a half minutes. William Patterson quickly responded with an 11-0 run to go in front 11-6. Dom Moser hit a late three pointer for the Aggies to bring them to with two after one quarter.
The Pioneers held DelVal scoreless over the first 5:30 of the second quarter as they grew their cushion to 22-11. Trailing 24-15, the Aggies rattled off seven consecutive points capped off by a Maisie Neuber layup to cut the lead to 24-22 before the Pioneers eventually took a 26-22 lead into the break.
Neuber opened the third with a bucket to trim the lead back to two, but William Patterson scored ten straight to hold their largest advantage of the game to that point, 36-24, midway through the quarter. Teams traded buckets for the remainder of the frame as the Pioneers led 46-35 heading to the fourth.
DelVal was kept at arms length for most of the quarter. Trailing by 11 with four minutes left, the Aggies hit four straight free throws, three from Alexis Wright, to trail 54-47 with 3:18 remaining. The Pioneers finished the game strong however as they went on a 9-2 run to end the game and win 63-49.
William Patterson shot 48% in the second half while holding Delaware Valley to 32.1%.
Dom Moser lead the Aggies with 19 points while adding seven rebounds.
Ciana Feliciano added ten points for DelVal to go with five boards.
Alexis Wright pulled down ten rebounds while knocking down all three free throw attempts.
The Aggies will be back in action for their home opener on Wednesday, November 16th at 6 p.m. against Stockton.
